12/13 Three Missing Climbers, Day Two
Again today PNW was called to the search for three missing climbers on Mt. Hood. 11 members responded. The assigned task of the day was to access the West side of the mountain via the Top Spur trailhead, with the goal of obtaining a vantage point to scan the glaciers with spotting scopes.
The road to the trailhead was covered with deep snow and ice, and the transportation provided by Mt. Wave communications and their 4x4 members was essential to the mission. The cloud ceiling was low, the wind was fierce at the vantage point reached by the team, and snow began falling before they began the return trip.
Thank you to all who could go out today, and thank you for all the supporting roles filled by team members and the ever valuable Mt. Wave.
