Searches

We were called to assist PMR with a hiker who had fallen off of the PCT above Ramona and was reported to be pinned down by rocks. Turns out he was just on a ledge and had to be roped out. Both party members were ambulatory and walked out on their own.  Good thing too. That would have been a long packout ! 

CCSO asked us to conduct an evidence search along with Search one K9 for a missing despondent male at the end of Salmon River Rd. A few bones were found that are awaiting analysis by the state crime lab. More effort may be required here...

We were called to find a developmentally challenged male at Trillium Lake. Subject was located before we left town... Called off.

After being diverted from an earlier search that was called off, seven PNW members headed to Zigzag to look for two missing hikers off of the PCT. The hikers were located at around 4:00am near the Muddy Fork and escorted out of the woods..  Nice job team ! 

We were called to locate two missing hikers and their pooch during the course of our monthly meeting. The subjects walked out on their own while we were in transit. Called off 

A mountain biker became separated from his friends while riding at night. Subject did not return to trailhead with his friends. PNW was activated but the subject found his way out without assistance.  Called off.

A 42 year old woman upset with her care-giver disappeared from the Eagle Creek trailhead off of I84. Several teams were deployed to cover trails in the system and the woman was spotted by an alert mountain biker who was aware of the situation. Resolved.

A man participating in a fund-raising run never reached a checkpoint in the race. The man was later found behind the high school deceased. Called off.

A 16 year old male was swept into the current while attempting to cross the Sandy near the Marmot area. A PNW team was sent to search the North side of the river near where the boy crossed in hopes he made it to shore and was wandering in the woods. Nothing was found and we were recalled after our search area was covered.  

The next day another PNW team was assigned to search the riverbank in the daylight. Water levels were high with cloudy, swift current. No trace of the boy was found...

Two PNW teams were deployed to find two overdue fishermen from the Roaring River campground on Hwy 224. While one team negotiated the rough terrain next to the river, the other took the ridge trail North. The subjects were located by a sound sweep off of the ridge trail. Subjuects were ambulatory and were walked out of the woods. Subjects were well prepared and made good decisions once they realized they were lost.  Resolved..
