06/28 Mutal Aid at Sandy Beach, Deschutes County.
Submitted by Nancy Hungerfor... on Mon, 06/28/2010 - 10:50pmLate Monday morning, PNW was asked to provide mutal aid to Deschutes County near Sandy Beach for a recovery effort. Three PNW members made the 136 mile round trip to act as the downriver safety team for the approximately 20 search team members involved.
Several agencies actively searched the river and banks for any sign of the presumably drowned subject. WIth no resolution at this time, the PNW team returned after darkness fell.
06/19 Kyron Horman Search

Co. in clearing a few more areas of interest in the continuing search for Kyron Horman. 22 PNW members responded, dividing into teams that had different but equally arduous areas to investigate. While one team clocked over 11 miles, another team with rope support team folks had over a dozen rappels of up to 165 ft.
No serious injuries to the team were reported, but hay fever continued to plague the teams in the field.

06/12 Kyron Horman Search
Submitted by Nancy Hungerfor... on Sat, 06/12/2010 - 10:24pmPNW responded with 27 members in the field on a hot day that brought the usual challenges of terrain and brush.
A new challenge was bees and poison oak. PNW split into 4 teams, and attacked their various assignments with vigor and determination.
PNW has been asked to respond again tomorrow.
06/11 Kyron Horman Search
Submitted by Nancy Hungerfor... on Fri, 06/11/2010 - 8:36pmFor today's search of Northwest Portland, PNW had a total of 18 searchers in the field. Such a large contingent meant that PNW could have two teams out in different search areas.
The terrain was quite difficult to navigate. The weather was good for the majority of the day.
PNW will be responding tomorrow with over thirty members.
06/10 Kyron Horman Search

Seven very soggy searchers. Terrain and conditions are mostly the same. The long streak of no PNW searcher injuries is unbroken once again. A larger contingent of PNW members have indicated their availability for tomorrow if needed.
06/09 Kyron Horman Search, Day Five.

What can be said of the search today that has not been said before?
The terrain was steep, covered in brambles, what wasn't covered in brambles was covered in mud. Not so many nettles today.
It rained.
PNW has been asked to respond again tomorrow.
06/08 Missing Boy, Day Four
Submitted by Nancy Hungerfor... on Tue, 06/08/2010 - 11:25pmBy now you know what the terrain was like, steep and muddy, covered with blowdown and the everpresent blackberries and nettles. There were also swamps, lakes, ponds and general muck to negotiate. Today it was sunny and too hot, instead of rainy and too cold.
PNW responded with 11 searchers, and has been asked to respond again tomorrow morning.
05/22 Mock Search/ Missing Plane, Canby Area
Submitted by Nancy Hungerfor... on Mon, 06/07/2010 - 10:53pmIn a mock search put on by Clackamas County Sheriff's Office for a cold case from three years ago, PNW members responded with 10 searchers on a wet and rainy Saturday. While it was considered a training opportunity, there is the possibility that some wreckage of a light aircraft is in the area that was plotted out for the mock search. PNW was joined on the ground by members of NORSAR, and supported with transportation and communications by Mountain Wave Communications.
06/07 Missing Elderly Woman, Molalla, Called Off Enroute
